Land Rover Range Rover Electronic Parking Brake Adaptation

How To Perform A Land Rover Range Rover Electronic Parking Brake Adaptation

Abstract: Servicing, maintenance, repairing or replacing rear brake pads or rotors on Land Rover SUVs requires a parking brake adaptation.

Also known as putting the rear brakes or parking brake into service mode. This is necessary to stay safe (avoid personal injury) and avoid damaging the vehicle you are servicing. Done fast and simply using iSCAN SF scan tool and our Land Rover diagnostic software. We are performing the adaptation on a 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, most late model Land Rover SUVs will require this service.

Since nearly all parking brakes today are electro-magnetic and no longer only cable driven, the rear brake calipers need to be released or placed into a service mode in order to perform brake maintenance. I’ll demonstrate this function on a 2018 Range Rover Sport, chassis code L494, using the iSCAN SF and our Land Rover enhanced software communicating on a diagnostics over internet protocol, also known as DoIP. While there are manual procedures to perform this function in certain cases, many technicians find its a fast and easiest to use a proper diagnostic tester to perform this adaptation.

To start this procedure, the ignition should be in position 2, with the engine OFF
